What do I do if I am going away on vacation?

We all need a break from time to time, and we understand that our teachers also need to have a holiday to recharge their batteries.

What happens when you do take some time off? What happens to my students? How do I let them know?

All valid questions, for which we have the following information:

How do I book time off?
1. To schedule time off (whether it be 2 days or 4 weeks), all you need to do is click on the 'Calendar' page in your teacher dashboard. Or click here.
2. Click on the 'Time Off' button toward the top right as shown below.

3. Click on the 'Add time off' button.

4. Select the date from which you are away, and the date when you will return.
5. Click on the checkbox, to ensure the system sends an email to notify your students, then click 'Save time off' to confirm the time off you will be taking.
DONE: Your planned, and much-deserved holiday will now be booked on your calendar and your students will all have been informed.

How do I inform my students?
By scheduling the time off on your calendar and by checking the checkbox as shown in point number 5 above, your students will automatically be informed of your planned vacation.
Of course, you can mention it to them in class or email them personally to let them know as well if you prefer.

What will happen to my students? Can they get a substitute teacher?
Once informed of your break, students may email in and request a substitute teacher. When the vacation is 1 week or less the students generally don't mind having a week off and will resume once you return.

When the break is longer than 2 weeks it is common for students to request a substitute teacher who Live Lingua will assist in providing. That teacher will cover the student's classes while you are away. The student will remain assigned as your student also.

What should I do once I return to my regular schedule?
Once you are back to your regular schedule, ensure your calendar is up to date, and feel free to reach out to your students who paused classes, to see if they'd like to schedule classes now you are available.
